With female autonomy and empowerment at its very core, You Don't Own Me is a hair suspension act inspired by the original song of the same name by Lesley Gore, a now-open lesbian singing in defiance of patriarchal standards within heteronormative society. Not wanting to be objectified, contained, or held down, Lisette created this act for cbaret perforamnces to showcase and embrace her own sensuality and femininity as a queer woman often sexualised by men, in a world that is constantly attacking women's rights.
